
“It was a great morning and everyone enjoyed the Fresh Meat demonstration! We learned a lot too,” says Marlene McCloud, secretary of the Shelly Beach Branch of SHAFTS (Self Help Association For The Seniors). The Margate SHAFTS branch was also invited, resulting in an estimated attendance of 70 or more.
The presentation highlighted various cuts of meat and how to cook them. Four ladies (below), whose birthdays were that week, were given their choice of the portions of meat used in the demonstration as a gift. Michael Frey gave a history of his company including the role of his father, an immigrant and master butcher from Germany.
