When some 180 pupils from Port Shepstone Junior Primary toured Michael Frey’s Fresh Meat in Port Shepstone they didn’t know that a special surprise was in store for them. Each student was given an opportunity to participate in a colouring-in competition for a special prize – a new bike.

As the entries came in to Fresh Meat however, something happened. Michael Frey, who along with Frank Dunford and Maureen Xolo were the judges, says, “We had a tough task because there were many good entries. We decided that only awarding one winner wasn’t right so we decided to choose two winners.”

“Student Justin Parasuraman who took an unusual and skilful approach to his entry was one of our winners. He won the bicycle.
Kutloana Kapah, whose entry was also outstanding, was our other prize winner. Because of her interest in art we supplied Kutloana with an easel and various art supplies including a watercolour paint kit. As a proud past pupil of this school myself, I would like to congratulate all of the students who impressed us with their fine efforts and enthusiasm.”
